5 Ways Meditation Transformed My Life + A New Guided Practice For You

We all know that feeling...

When the walls are closing in, when things and situations feel impossible, and when black-and-white thinking offers solutions that don’t feel like solutions at all.

You feel stuck, apathetic, or like the whirling won’t stop spinning.

This is the time to meditate. To come to Presence. To breathe and reset. Finding the inner muscle of response over reaction.

I’ve been meditating for 20 years, and I teach meditation to all of my clients, from age 14 to 77. It’s the single most important and useful tool in my life for changing perspective, viewing situations differently, releasing anxiety, and finding movement away from depression or apathy.

Concrete Ways Meditation and Presence Practice Have Changed My Life:

  1. My start to meditation practice was grounded in dealing with relationship strife (e.g. who left the dishes on the counter again!), finding peace with my own reactivity and allowing new ways to respond to life to unfold.

  2. Later meditation and Presence Practice helped my younger self come to peace, forgiveness and acceptance of old family dynamics and patterning from childhood, allowing me to release old wounds and to love and forgive completely and thoroughly.

  3. As a parent and teacher this work has become the foundation of how I approach and discover solutions from wonder and possibility.

  4. In business, school, or other complex or conflict filled situations, meditation practice shifts our foundation, allowing for more creative and calm responses.

  5. And as I’ve gone through deeper and deeper parts of this experience of living as a spiritual being in a human form, it has shown me how to navigate the biggest obstacles of life from panic attacks and immense inner suffering, climate change anxiety, fear of death, to losing people I love.

Why Meditate?

Over the past few years I’ve experienced the joy of witnessing how meditation, Presence practice, and the other tools and skills I teach, truly transform my clients’ experiences of life. So although many, like me, have initial resistance to meditation. With time and practice everyone comes to love it. It is the place we come home to no matter where we are. It is the deep, quiet, inner knowing and guide that never leads us astray.

This practice equips us with the ability to respond spontaneously and appropriately to every moment that arises. It cultivates an inner calm and connection to Self.

Consider this your personal invitation to explore meditation or pick up a practice if you have stopped.

Getting Started With My Support:

Build a Daily Habit: Choose a specific time or place to meditate everyday. If you miss a day here or there when you are getting started, that’s okay. Just know consistency is key in forming a lasting habit.

Find the Right Meditation for You: I offer a series of guided meditations on my website, including a new release - Transformative Butterfly Meditation featured in video below. Or if you are an experienced practitioner… just sit.

Get Settled: Find a comfortable seat and set a timer for your meditation. For beginners I recommend 10-15 minutes. For more advanced, 20-45 minutes. Set a timer (anything will do) to start to meditate, then use the recording to help you sink in. The recording will end but you’ll continue to sit until the timer rings.
